Module 1:  Success, profitability and sustainability

1. About this Course

If a company is profitable that doesn’t necessarily mean it is also sustainable. Even worse, it could be very profitable but not sustainable at all, so we need to know what boundary perspectives divide truly sustainable companies from the “sustainable” ones. So, how a business contributes to simultaneous environmental, social and economic development through its operation, while also creating business benefits for the company, is a question we address in this course. We will provide you with an in-depth understanding of how to design a unique sustainable business strategy that reflects a paradigm shift from an existing model to a goal-oriented and purpose-driven sustainable business.

2. What you will learn from this course (So, what should you expect?):
  • You will understand that sustainability is not just another business marketing spin, even though it is too many times treated as such.
  • You will learn it is just the opposite, a complete business culture shift.
  • Numbers (profit) matter only in the right context. Sometimes we say that Covid-19 will wake us up to a completely new reality.
  • We will talk about the sustainability concept alone and its’ power to change the world, starting locally and ending in a global perspective.

Lecturer: Nenad Savič, PhD

Dr. Nenad Savič is the only business advisor and business excellence assessor in Slovenia and South-East Europe with the EFQM Licensed Advisor certificate, which EFQM only awards to experts who have an in-depth understanding of its business excellence model – and sustainability is deeply rooted in that model. Currently a Quality Director at Adria Mobile, one of the best European B2C companies working in the caravanning industry. He used to be an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Ljubljana for the Strategic Management course and collaborates with the Slovenia Institute for Quality and Metrology. He is also the owner and manager of Unikatum, an institute for innovative business models. He has helped develop business strategies and business excellence models for numerous Slovenian clients as well as different companies and organisations from Europe and the Middle East.

Module 2:  Change management and how to inspire change

1. About this Course

Based on real-life cases, we will go through the eight steps of the change management process. We will present
how to show people the future and how to inspire them to embrace its vision. The vital role of communication will
be put under the spotlight, showing its power to mobilise people in the desired direction and culture – if conducted
with the head, heart and hands of transformational leadership. The best practices and tools of internal
communication from corporate and entrepreneurial types of organisational culture will be used to demonstrate the
key success factors of a sustainable transformation and change management.

2. What you will learn from this course (So, what should you expect?):
  • How to show people the future and create a sense of urgency related to it.
  • How to create trust and connect the envisioned future of an organisation with the lives of its people.
  • Pain points and common mistakes of the change management process. How to avoid the risk: ‘vision without implementation is hallucination’.
  • Which tools of internal communication are available and how to apply them smartly.
  • How a company can sustainably grow in skills and productivity 10 % yearly and increase its resilience.
3. Course content:
  • The eight steps of the Kotter change management model: from a starting point of the sense of urgency creation or realisation to anchoring the change into the organisation’s DNA.
  • Internal communication tools available to mobilise change and motivate people towards the desired common vision and future.
  • Words that leaders use to promote change.
  • Cases of successful change management and transformational leadership.
Lecturer: Edita Krajnović, MSc

Edita Krajnović, CEO of Mediade company, is a change motivator. As an economist, she started her professional career in an academic environment, which she soon exchanged for a business one. Her professional career and leadership skills were built through executive management positions, first in a bank and then a medium-sized publishing company. As a head of marketing, PR and sales she has been involved in market repositioning and organisational culture transformations. In 2005, she founded Mediade, a marketing and communications company. She received a bronze innovation award for an internal communication tool that helped companies to build and sustain an innovative organisational culture. She is also a co-founder of the Let´s Be Engineers!

Module 3:  How neuroscience can make us more effective leaders

1. About this Course

The application of Neuroscience in Business is called Neuromanagement. It is described as the art of synchronising the science of the brain with leadership behaviours, offering the best hope for affecting real change in a leader and within an organisation. It helps us to understand the impact that our emotions and behaviours – and the behaviours of those around us – have on our success and failure. We will present the model of multiple brains and how to recognise their influence on us. Attitude is a key driver for results, with our brain having a basic set up combined of a fixed and a growth mindset. The fixed mindset represents a barrier to our actions; a growth mindset is a bridge to move forward and progress. In this context, AQ (Adaptability Quotient) is a main component of success. The ability to learn, change, grow, and experiment will become far more important than subject expertise.

Carlos Davidovich has over 25 years of experience supporting the development of leaders and management teams alike on an international scale. Originally from Argentina, he has been working in Canada, US and Europe as performance and executive coach, giving workshops and lectures in NeuroLeadership and NeuroMarketing, and is certified in SuccessFinder Career System Assessment. He draws on his skills as a medical doctor plus his twenty years of experience as executive in the pharmaceutical industry to deliver insights to both organizations and executives about neuroscience and leadership to achieve the best results.

Module 4:  Coaching for leaders

1. About this Course

The role of a leader in today’s business world is closely connected with leaders taking responsibility for the development and realisation of their employees. Because coaching is a simple, clear method that can be acquired as a skill relatively quickly, it is gaining more and more attention from leaders who have decided to integrate certain elements of coaching into their leadership style. The fact that coaching is one of the most effective methods of employee development also contributes to the increasing popularity of coaching among leaders. Research shows that coaching helps to empower individuals, making them more proactive and willing to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
In the course “Coaching for leaders” we will focus on a skill of asking powerful questions that can guide and facilitate employee development. We will learn about the different types of questions and their strategic role in communication. In addition to that, we will practice using questions in different leadership situations (performance review, setting and tracking goals, development situations).
We will also learn the simple ABCD model of coaching that is based on a problem-solving mindset that helps leaders to establish a clear structure in the communication and facilitation of an individual’s development.

Lecturer: Sabina Đuvelek, PhD

Dr. Sabina Đuvelek is an organisational psychologist and performance coach who through her work focuses mainly on the strategic development of employees and shaping environments that are continuously encouraging the professional and personal growth of an individual. In recent years, she has worked as a manager of an internal coaching networking in the HRM department at Petrol d.d., a leading energy company in the region and a senior consultant and coach at Useful psychology team. She is also a successful coach and senior content strategist at the company e2grow (a community of worldwide coaches that focuses on implementing programs that improve organisational culture, teamwork and leadership). Sabina develops and implements professional educational programs that have a significant impact on organisational habits and the habits of employees with a goal of long-term cultural changes in companies. 

She also has a Ph.D. in Applicative Psychology from the University of Ljubljana (April 2020). She is interested in researching factors that influence the effectiveness of an internal coach (title of doctoral dissertation: “Connection of emotional intelligence, goal-oriented competencies in work commitment with the effectiveness of internal guidance”). Prior to that, she graduated in September 2013 in the field of Psychology (Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana) with a diploma thesis entitled “Method of individual guidance and mental health”.

Module 5:  Leading through storytelling

1. About this Course

Today’s leaders are expected to have a profound, transformative influence on their followers. In these times of unprecedented change and turbulence, inspiring your people to share your vision and engaging them to follow you towards a future with a fulfilling purpose requires that you have developed excellent communication skills to make you stand out and be recognised as authentic leaders who help their followers to embrace positive change. Storytelling is an art that leaders are expected to master since it is the best means of communicating their ideas in ways that appeal to the emotions of their followers. Science has shown that emotional triggers sent through a great story “speak” to the minds and hearts of people and positively influence them to engage in desired actions. In this workshop, we will have the opportunity to explore how you can master the art of storytelling and make a difference in the business world.

Sotiris Karagiannis has over 28 years of experience as a corporate trainer and consultant in soft skills areas, such as leadership, culture change, motivation and engagement. He managed the Greek franchise of the globally recognized Dale Carnegie Training firm and is certified to deliver the Daniel Pink Motivation 3.0 engagement workshop. His clients are some of the biggest in pharma (Bayer, Johnson&Johnson, Astra Zeneca, Novartis, etc.), FMCG (Coca-Cola, Danone), luxury (Swarovski), Telcom (Ericsson), IT (Oracle, HP), commodities (3M).
